The sex & cash theory... not what you think

"Don't compare your behind-the-scenes with someone else's highlight reel."-Steven Furtick

It's easy to get caught up in the highlight reel. We tend to share the best parts of our lives (on Facebook) and skip the back story. The trade-offs, the compromises, and the just-missed-opportunities.It reminds me of "The Sex & Cash Theory" from Hugh MacLeod's book Ignore Everybody.MacLeod explains that creative people have two kinds of jobs. One is the "sexy, creative kind." And the other "pays the bills."This is true of many industries. For every "sexy" indie film an actor gets to make, she usually has to do a big studio film for the "cash" the following year.Getting past the highlight reel:1. Collect good vibes. Keep a well-stocked top drawer of accolades and wins, to reference anytime.2. Clean house. One toxic person poisons the water. You know the one. She couldn't bring herself to utter the words, "Congrats" after you landed your new gig. Protect your circle.3. Make like wonder woman. Remember to power pose. It's science. (Share this with everyone! Everyone should know about it). XOoh by the wayPS: Let's rally... We're psyched to get this new print posted on the wall. #CubeArt #MoveForwardMantra
