(click to tweet)TASTEdaily's 'That's What She Said' Series:Don't you just love a good story about a woman disrupting the norm for the greater good?Elizabeth Holmes has created a way to run 30 lab tests from one small blood drop.A decade ago Holmes, after a stint at Stanford, launched her company Theranos.Theranos was born out of Holmes' frustration with the archaic healthcare process of blood-tests, along with the high cost and lengthy wait for results.
I started this company because I wanted to spend my life changing our health care system.- Elizabeth Holmes
Now with Theranos, customers can run a bevy of tests from cholestrol to sophisticated genetic analysis with just one small pinprick.Holmes and Theranos just celebrated a partnership with Walgreens, and her innovative healthcare-testing service is becoming widely accessible. The process is democratized on all levels, as the cost is dramatically lower than typical fees (cholestrol test is $3, blood typing is $2). The company transparently lists all prices here.Oh, and WSJ says she's the next Steve Jobs, but we think she's the first Elizabeth Holmes and that's something.XOOh, by the way
